My naked design wall

It seems as though I've had some project or other on my design wall nonstop for month now. And with the madman's quilt only requiring binding (this evening's chore), there is nothing on my design wall.

Blank. Zilch. Nada.

It's disconcerting for me to walk into my sewing room and see nothing on that wall--it's the first thing I see when I walk in. I have a wee baby quilt to finish by mid-January for a friend's shower, so I'll have to pull those blocks out (I have 7 completed, just need to make another 5) and put them up on the wall this week.

Anyone else have that sense of momentary panic when they've completed a project? And be honest--how many of you wind up starting something new instead of picking up a UFO?

Oh, I always start a new project over a UFO. I've decided that slogging through all my UFOs might look good on paper, but it's not really much fun in real life. Instead of trying to finish all my UFOs, I'm just going to focus on getting a few of them to the next step in the process, one at a time (tops basted, basted quilts quilted, blocks made into a top, etc.). If I happen to get on a roll and finish one, so be it. But I'm not going to force myself.

I'm always seem to be starting something new lately. I used to be a start to finish quilter - one project at a time. I have a quilt I hope to finish soon after the new year that has been waiting to be quilted for about 3 months now!

Yes! I am slowly finishing the binding on my first quilt because I'm sad to see the project come to an end... although I have a million more ideas it is hard to pick where to get started.

I definitely share your unsettled feeling when I don't have a quilt in process. Now, I don't have a design wall.... Someday perhaps!
